“All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Commission Network Ministries is named after this Great Commission. Our goal is to make disciples of Jesus Christ & thereby grow God’s Kingdom.
The focus is not exclusively on any one local church or Christian denomination, but teaming up with like-minded believers and gospel-centered churches/ministries, we will endeavor to make disciples of Jesus & grow His Kingdom together!
19% of professing Christians in America say that they read the Bible on a regular basis. Why? Why is it that less than a quarter of people in this country, who profess faith in Jesus, actually study His Word regularly?
There are probably several answers to this question, but let’s start with these three:
-
Time. Many people say that they do not have the time in their busy schedules for God’s Word. But the reality is: we always make time for those things that are a priority to us. If something or someone is a priority, we’ll invest money & time into it---we’ll make time for it. And we’ll make sure there’s room in life for it
-
A wrong/inaccurate view of the Bible. Lots of people say that the Bible is a good book, but not a relevant book. They say that the Bible isn’t “keeping up with the times.” But the Bible isn’t supposed to keep up with the times---it is timeless. And as the times change, truth does not change.
-
They see it as a source of information, but not as a source for transformation. Many people view the Bible as a religious history book & they treat it like a text book that merely passes on information of days long past.
But the Bible is not merely to be information that is passed on from one person to another. The Lord wants His Word to be known and lived. He wants to transform your mind, heart, life with the Truth!
“For the Word of God is living & active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” – Romans 12:2
One of the main reasons for the School of Ministry (which we call “Know the Bible” classes) is that we want to do our part in helping to irradicate biblical illiteracy & complacency in God’s church by offering resources (both in person & online) that will help believers grow in their knowledge of God’s Word.
And this we will help them to fulfill the part of the Great Commission that says, “…Teaching them to follow all that I commanded you…” (Matt. 28:20a).
The following courses will eventually be offered (they are currently in progress & not yet completed):
Survey of the Old Testament – Largely misunderstood (not to mention somewhat intimidating), the Old Testament is packed with intriguing and important Bible stories and events. But more importantly, the Old Testament stands as the foundation of the Christian faith and it allows us to understand God in a greater way as we study how He interacted with His people throughout its 39 powerful books.
Survey of the New Testament – In the Old Testament, God promised to bring blessing and redemption to man through the Messiah. The New Testament is the record of God doing just that! The New Testament is much smaller than the Old Testament and it covers a period of time far shorter than that of the Old. But the New Testament covers the most significant era of all-time: those years when God became man and brought salvation to a lost and sinful world.
How to Study the Bible – A course that helps any believer learn how to study their Bible---to discover what it says, what it means & how to apply it to their lives.
Survey of Christian Doctrine – An overview of some of the key doctrines of our Christian faith from the Scriptures.
Spiritual Disciplines – Covers 11 different areas of personal growth for every believer that are found in the Scriptures.
Discipleship 101 – Covers 12 fundamentally important areas of discipleship that every believer should be well-versed in.
Commission Network Ministries is committed to helping equip believers & churches in this vital cause of making disciples of Jesus Christ.
